Research goals

Writer: Gabriela Goes da CunhaGabriela Goes da Cunha

Primary goal:

1. To determine whether chemical compounds derived from PJ34 with a longer R group are more potent inhibitors than PJ34 itself.

Secondary goals:

  1. To deepen scientific knowledge about exotoxin A inhibitors using in silico methods – ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion and Toxicity) and molecular docking . In this way, the drug development process is optimized, since such in silico methods allow rapid and preliminary tests, which discard unpromising samples before in vitro experiments;

  2. Identify possible inhibitors to nullify the action of exotoxin A, aiming to combat the most severe symptoms of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections with this new approach in conjunction with traditional treatment;

  3. Verify the efficiency of possible inhibitors of exotoxin A on other pathogenic substances of P. aeruginosa, such as exotoxin U and exoenzymes S and T, aiming to obtain a more efficient drug to combat these bacterial infections;

  4. Seek ways to popularize and democratize knowledge with patents, sharing of data and processes on GitHub and educational material, such as a Super Trunfo-style card game with indexes to be compared, in addition to an educational space on the Minecraft: Education Edition platform (2016).
